In 2015-2016, 45% of New Jersey parents read to their children (under the age of 6) for less than four days per week.
Reading to children from the moment they are born to their first day of preschool is essential for they expereince copious brain development throughout these years. It is important that parents have the resources and books they need to feed their child's growing imagination. Just by reading aloud, engaging in conversations, and singing to children, they can build a strong foundation to the literacy skills they will need throughout their educational careers. Not only does reading improve their cognitive skills, but it also builds the bonds between the parent and child.
How you can help
Please donate so that your children, the future of America, can get a headstart on their educational careers and develop their love for reading with the people they love the most. By donating to the Bridge of Books Foundation, you will be providing families and schools in New Jersey with the financial assistance needed to restore libraries and place books in the hands of children and parents. You can also help by spreading awareness in your community of the importance of reading to children and having books in homes.
Imagine growing up with no books in your home.
Books have the power to change lives - educationally, socially, emotionally and professionally. Unfortunately, there are still too many children today without books in their homes, schools and communities.
You can help. Become a fundraiser, and host a virtual book drive from the comfort of your home.
Help us fill bookshelves. Help us change a child’s life.
