Dear Friends and Family!

I invite you to embark with me on my journey to help put books in the hands of those who have never had a book to call their own.  I invite you to embark with me on my journey to put more appropriate level books in children's homes. I invite you to embark with me on my journey to instill a love for reading in every single child in the country.  I invite you to embark with me on my journey through literature!

How many books do you remember having in your household as a child?  For me I remember having a plethora of books to choose from whenever I was to pick out a bedtime story, or a book to do a report on, or even just my favorite book that week to read every free moment I could find.  I cannot even imagine my childhood without all the reading and books that surrounded me. It was where I first learned my love for learning!

As a future high school English and Literature teacher, the topic of literacy is of utmost importance.  Reading is one of the first places that children can turn to when they feel lost, upset, angry, and especially happy.  Novelists, William Nicholson and C.S. Lewis both once wrote, “We read to know we are not alone”. Books are the perfect outlet for children to learn who they truly are, how they think creatively, and what interests them most in this life.  

If instilling in children the love of learning is not enough, research in my college comp class on the topic of literacy proves that literacy correlates with dropout and crime rates, yearly average salaries, and genuine well-being.  By donating, not only are you increasing the level of living, but you also are inspiring children everyday. Who knows, thanks to a generous donor, maybe after reading The Lorax, or To Kill a Mockingbird, or even Harry Potter, one more child will be inspired to change the world.

All I ask is that if you have the money to donate just one book, please do!  If you can’t donate, please share this link! Let’s work together to change the world one child at a time, but more specifically with one book at a time!
